One of my passions is art, in any of its forms, and I consider the good use and usage of a language an art as well.

Hello! My name is José Miguel Neira. I was born in Talca, Chile, but raised in Punta Arenas, the most southern city on Earth. My interests include reading, listening to music, watching movies and also training a little bit. I play Paddle, I do Yoga and from time to time I compete in 7km or 10km runs.
I started learning languages when I was very little (4 years old), and due to my learning skills I can now handle 5 languages… but I am looking for more!

I am a native speaker of Spanish and I have taught English and Spanish in different levels.
I have a degree in Translation and Interpreting with a mention in IT applied to Translation. I have been working freelance during my whole life; it is a great feeling knowing that you handle your own time. I have worked mostly in Santiago de Chile, but I have also taught during my travels to France, Italy, Germany and England. I have also had online students in Paris, Buenos Aires and Ontario.
I have taught students who speak English, French, Italian, Portuguese and German.

My approach towards teaching will depend on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for a comprehensive learning of Spanish, we will review different vocabulary along with an in-depth phonetic teaching that will improve your writing and talking skills. This approach will also provide you the skills to learn on your own. You will be able to read words you may have never read before, yet you will know how to say them aloud and you might even try a good guess of the meaning.
On the other hand, if you are learning Spanish for a specific purpose, we can focus on that area. We will prepare conversations, idioms, directions, terminology for a determined area, etc.
My teaching commitment is to give my best to identify your language needs and learning methods. I will also make sure that I take the best out of you: I will not rest until you have achieved even a little bit more than you were looking for in the first place.

¡Hola! Mi nombre es José Miguel Neira, nací en Talca (Chile), pero crecí principalmente en Punta Arenas, la ciudad más austral del mundo. Algunos de mis intereses son la lectura, la música, el cine y algunos deportes. Practico Paddle, Yoga y de vez en cuando participo en carreras de 7 ó 10 kms.
