Nottingham and Slough Use Translation & Language Skills to Improve Employability

It’s true.  Having language skills will improve employability.  A poll of 500 companies conducted for CILT revealed one in four said the ability to speak a second language would give a candidate the edge when applying for a job.

When the international football player, Raddy Majewski, arrived at Nottingham Forest Football Club in 2009, he could only really communicate in Polish.  The club organised English lessons to avoid having to have a (very fit!) Nottingham based Polish interpreter accompanying Raddy on the field.

On agreeing a takeover offer from Spanish Telecom giant, Telefonica, O2 in Slough paid for its staff to learn Spanish.

These forward thinking organisations in Nottingham and Slough are surely doing the right thing.  With foreign language learning becoming non-compulsory in secondary schools in 2004, we risk bringing up a generation unable to communicate in any language other than English.  To attract business from overseas, we must present our goods and services in the target languages.

It seems that many companies in Nottingham and elsewhere in Nottinghamshire have already understood the need to communicate in the language of their customers.  We regularly supply translators and interpreters to this region.  Recent translation and interpreting projects have been in languages as diverse as:  French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Bengali, Punjabi, Romanian and Russian.
