Translation and Interpreting for the NHS

According to an article in the London Evening Standard, many NHS Trusts are typically spending over £1million per year on translation and interpreting services.

In this time of austerity, it would be tempting to think that this is money that could be better spent.  However, in areas such as Birmingham where over 140 languages are spoken, professional translators and interpreters are crucial to ensure that patients understand what is happening.

We regularly translate patient information leaflets in languages such as French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Bengali, Punjabi, Romanian and Russian.  Over the last couple of months we have sent  interpreters to hospitals and surgeries in Birmingham, Hereford, Worcester, Reading, Swindon, Colchester and Basingstoke.
