Proofreading and an Eye for Detail

We’ve been checking our eye for detail (should that be hyphenated?) here in the office to see if we have what it takes to become a proofreader (should that be proof-reader?).  It is amazing how easy it is to miss the simplest of errors, and the longer you stare at a text, the less you seem to see.

We offer proofreading in 190 languages.  If we translate any material, one linguist will undertake the translation, and a second linguist will undertake the proofreading stage.  A fresh pair of eyes as it were.  During your next coffee break, become a proofreader for 5 minutes, and see if you can spot all the errors contained in the text - http://www.copyediting.co.uk/test.htm  Our professional proofreaders do this day-in-day-out (maybe this one shouldn’t be hyphenated…).
