Knockhundred is chosen by local authority to assess translation standards

Knockhundred was delighted to be chosen by a local authority to assess the translation ability of the authority’s local population.

Legal EaglesCandidates interested in a career in translation were invited to complete a short test translation.  28 candidates took up the challenge.  Our team of assessors considered pieces translated into Romanian, Polish, Kiswahili, Russian, German, French, Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Latvian, Portuguese, Thai, Chinese and Slovak.

Melissa Ridley, one of Knockhundred’s directors, managed the assessment process.  “None of the candidates hold recognised translation qualifications, but it was good to see just how many promising linguists there are out there.  It was also interesting to see how diverse a relatively small community can be.  Some of the candidates were certainly up to a standard where they could legitimately consider a career in translation”.
